Carrying items for someone on a flight
Only carry an item when you know exactly what it is, can inspect it fully and have checked that it is allowed throughout the journey.
Never carry a sealed or unknown item
The traveller remains responsible for everything in their luggage. If the description, packaging or behaviour causes concern, refuse the item.
Before agreeing
- Confirm your ticket and checked-baggage allowance.
- Ask for the item’s exact contents, weight, dimensions and value.
- Check the airline, departure airport, transit country and destination rules.
- Agree how and where you will inspect the item.
At the handover
- Open every container and inspect every item.
- Make sure the contents match the request.
- Keep your own record of what you accepted.
- Do not accept last-minute substitutions.
